Description:
When exogenous EPO is used as a performance-enhancing drug, it is classified as an erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (ESA). Erythropoietin, or its alternative erythropoetin or EPO, is a glycoprotein hormone that controls erythropoiesis, or red blood cell production. It is a cytokine for erythrocyte (red blood cell) precursors in the bone marrow.
Thirty-three BALB/c female tumor-bearing mice were randomized to receive a solution including a). placebo; b) GHRP-2; c). 5-FU; d). 5-FU + GHRP-2. Ten of them received placebo solution
Applications:
EPO stimulates bone marrow to produce more red blood cells (RBC) and therefore haemoglobin. For this reason EPO is most commonly used amoungst endurance athletes as a higher RBC count means better oxygen transportation and so a higher rate of aerobic respiration. The faster the rate of aerobic respiration, the higher the level at which the athlete can work without utilising the anaerobic systems which produce lactic acid and cause fatigue.
 
The Dosage of EPO
 
It is recommended to take in 8,000IU up to 10,000IU doses within 2 weeks. By the third week, you can feel the results that can last for some three to six months. However, you need to check on your blood pressure every now and then when you are taking erythropoietin to make sure that it is not getting too high because this means that your hematocrit is getting high, too. Also, make sure that you do not get dehydrated. Keep yourself hydrated to avoid clotting issues. It is also advisable that you have some aspirins in handy to work as blood thinners when it is necessary.
