HCG, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a hormone produced during pregnancy. HCG is only for in vitro diagnostic use, the test device should remain sealed until use, do not use after expiration date. Reagents and materials provided included rapid HCG S/U Test Card, disposable sample pipet, instruction for use.
The first step is the collection of urine. Specimens collected at any time may be used (the first morning urine generally contains the highest concentration of the hormone). No centrifugation or filtration of urine is required, the urine specimens must be collected in a clean dry container either plastic or glass without preservatives. If specimens can not be tested within 3 days of collection, they should be stored refrigerated at 2-8 degree.
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is used to support the normal development of an egg in a woman's ovary, stimulate the release of the egg during ovulation, also used to cause ovulation and treat infertility in women, and to increase sperm count in men. HCG is also used in young boys when their testicles have not dropped down into the scrotum normally. This can be caused by a pituitary gland disorder.
How does Human Chorionic Gonadotropin HCG works?
The membrane of the test device was coated with anti HCG antibodies on the test region and goat anti mouse IgG antibodies on the control region. During the test, urine specimen is allowed to react with the HCG monoclonal antibody-colloid gold conjugate, which was pre-dried on the test strip.
